FAQs

You have questions. We have answers.

What is CBD and how is it different from THC?

CBD (Cannabidiol) is a chemical in the cannabis sativa plant and is a compound found in cannabis. CBD is not impairing, meaning it does not cause a "high."

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is a chemical found in cannabis that is the main psychoactive component of the plant.

What type of CBD does Maine Made Relief use?

Maine Made Relief’s products are all derived from hemp plants and tested twice to ensure safety and compliance.

Maine Made Relief does not use marijuana plants for the production of our products.

What makes CBD effective?

CBD may offer a means of alleviating pain and inflammation and is believed to modulate the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS), which plays a role in regulating various physiological processes, including pain sensation, mood, and immune response.

Are CBD products safe for my family?

Yes. According to the World Health Organization, CBD is generally safe and well-tolerated and is not addictive.

Are CBD products safe for pets?

Yes. CBD isolate products are safe for pets. They can be especially effective at reducing pain. Veterinarians have seen CBD help dogs with chronic arthritis pain walk more comfortably, for example.

Ongoing research suggests CBD also helps make seizures less intense and less frequent.

Is CBD good for muscle aches, pains and inflammation?

Yes. Topical CBD can help relieve muscle aches, pains and inflammation. It may not work for everyone, but there is growing evidence that CBD is one of the most naturally effective ways to tame the aches and pains of everyday life. CBD may play a role in hydrating the skin and have anti-inflammatory effects, so using a product that contains CBD might help with treating dry skin or certain inflammatory skin disorders.

How long does relief from CBD topical last?

Topical CBD provides relief on specific parts of the body for things like arthritis, chronic pain, inflammation, and more.

Usually, the topical will take effect within 20 minutes and last up to 3 hours. CBD limits the absorption of cannabinoids into the bloodstream when used topically.

Can you overuse CBD pain balms?

No. You cannot overdose on CBD, it is well tolerated and has a good safety profile as recognized by the World Health Organization.

Is CBD addictive?

No. CBD is not addictive and is considered safe in low doses, according to the World Health Organization.

Will I get "high" from CBD?

No. CBD itself is not intoxicating; therefore, it will not make you 'high.'

However, you should do your best to ensure that your products contains only  0.3% THC or less.

Rest assured that all Maine Made Relief products with CBD contain 0.3% THC.

Will CBD show up in a drug test?

No. Full-spectrum hemp topicals are effective at soothing and treating muscle soreness and skin conditions — because they penetrate the skin. But, critically, they don’t penetrate through it. So, if you’re worried about cannabis products being absorbed into your bloodstream from topical application, you’re all good.

Unless you use a transdermal patch designed specifically for that purpose, topical CBD won’t reach your bloodstream.

What are the other benefits of using a hemp-derived CBD topical?

Treat skin irritations like eczema, psoriasis, and acne - Improve the pain from peripheral neuropathy - Soothe joint inflammation from arthritis, exercise, or injury - treat muscle pain and soreness anywhere on the body - Increase blood flow and pleasure during intimacy

Which is more effective, a topical or oral CBD solution?

Topical CBD products provide greater CBD uptake in specific areas and tend to be less diluted when compared to taking CBD orally.

Maine Made Relief only offers products that can be used topically.

What is full-spectrum hemp extract?

Full-spectrum hemp extracts contain a full range (the “full spectrum”) of the cannabinoids that occur naturally in the hemp plant. This includes CBD, CBC, CBG, CGN, CBDA, terpenes, and flavonoids. 0.3% or less THC, and more.

What is broad-spectrum extract?

The broad-spectrum product has undergone refinement to keep all of the original compounds except THC.

What is isolate?

Isolate contains no other cannabis compounds, only CBD.

What is the difference between Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and Isolate CBD?

Full Spectrum CBD contains all the compounds of the cannabis plant; it is considered more effective than pure CBD (called the entourage effect).

Broad Spectrum CBD = Contains almost all components of the cannabis plant except for THC.*

Isolate = Uses pure CBD extract with no other cannabinoids or additives

What is the difference between a hemp plant and a marijuana plant?

Hemp plants and marijuana plants are both the same species.

CBD can be derived from both hemp and marijuana plants.
