Browntail Moth Rash Relief's Natural Ingredients
Browntail moth season is upon us, and the state is buzzing! Warnings are everywhere about the nasty little boogers we call browntail moths. In truth, they are caterpillars, and that’s when they are a nuisance. I’m including a handy link that discusses the effectiveness of witch hazel against the nasty symptoms of browntail moth rash. There's also a pic included here of the various plants we use in our rash relief spray and lotion.

We have been busy making our product to get ready for the browntail moth caterpillar season. If we didn’t mention it before, our rash relief products contain a steeped tincture made from witch hazel and other medicinal plants. This mixture steeps for two weeks in our laboratory, then it goes into the effective lotion and spray we sell as caterpillar rash relief.
Recently, a follower of ours on Instagram suggested we post more about our ingredients, as we all know Mainers love everything that is naturally made! What a great suggestion. Below I am listing all of the ingredients that go into our rash relief products.
Witch hazel- a naturally calming anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent
Calendula- healing, anti-fungal, anti-microbial agent
Oatstraw- a calming agent
Plantain- germicidal and anti-bacterial agent
St. John’s Wort- healing and anti-inflammatory agent
Beeswax (only in the lotion)- calming agent
Jojoba oil (only in the lotion)- calming agent
Aloe juice (only in the spray)- calming agent
The outcome of all this hard work is a 100% non-toxic and family-safe product called Browntail Moth Rash Relief. An even better characteristic of our rash relief is that it’s handmade right here in Blue Hill, Maine, in small batches. You can’t go wrong with having it on hand because once caterpillar season is over, you can use it for any number of minor skin irritations or bites.
